LUYANDO: EPISODE 12
PART 1
'Get in i want to talk to you', Nyambes mother told Nyambe as she waved at Angela goodbye. 'I really need to to to go Mum', Nyambe said. She looked at him like she was going to beat his ass up. He knew better that he had to obey. 'Your stepfather is not around if that's what you are scared of', she sat down. 'So, of all people Luyando? Are you trying to kill me or what?' She asked him. 'Mum, its not what you thin......', Nyambe was trying to explain to his mother. 'Don't interrupt me when Iam talking to you young man. I knew something was off when i came at your place on Saturday. It was Luyando in the bedroom, wasn't it?', 'Mum, listen'. 'Shut up', Her temper was rising.
'You have to stop seeing that girl before i kill her. What does she want from us? First your stepfather, now you'. Nyambe just sat there looking at his mother talk. He then realized how much she hated Luyando. 'You have to cut all connections you have with that girl, i don't want to hear anything about her'. 'Yooo...you know Iam not young, ri...right?' Iam an adult who can make my own decisions and choose who i want to be with'. 'Yes i know but Luyando NO, over my dead body'. 'Anyway Iam leaving its getting late'. Nyambe left his mothers house demoralized and feeling uncertain. Nothing was even working with Luyando, it was best to leave her anyway. He thought.
Luyando woke up feeling weary the following morning and called in sick at work. She called for her grandmother but it seemed like her grandmother was not around. She got up to check on her and only found breakfast prepared for her. She checked the bedroom and no one was there. She called her grandmother and was told that she had taken her presumed husband to the hospital for a checkup. Luyando knew that her grandmother was serious about her grandfather. 'Anyway, its her life', she said out loud. 'Whose life?', Priscilla entered the house. The girls had planned to meet. It had been a while since they talked. They stayed at Luyando's place till afternoon. Luyando told Priscilla about Angela and how she was acting up. 'Its the pregnancy maybe, you know sometimes these pregnancies tend to make people mad', the girls laughed.
It was time for Priscilla to go. Luyando told her that she would not escort her as she had not gone for work and was scared of meeting someone from work. They got out the fence and were walking slowly on the street talking and making noise as usual. Luyando heard a voice calling for her from the car that was behind them. Luyando looked at the car and it was the organizations car. She didn't know who had called for her but Priscilla recognized the voice. 'Its Joseph', she told Luyando. Luyando got scared of what Joseph would think that she had called in sick that day. And there she was looking well. The car got closer. 'Hi Priscilla', Joseph looked at Priscilla who didn't reply. 'Luyando we thought you were sick', Joseph stared at Luyando. 'Yes Iam not feeling well, we were just taking a walk but tomorrow Iam reporting'. She told him. 'Anyway, take your time, Angela is covering for you, aren't you Angela?', Joseph looked at the back seats of the car. Angela rolled down the windows, smiled and greeted the girls. The car drove away with the girls left standing like robots.
'What is she up to?' Luyando was thinking when she got home. She had helped Angela out of good will but it seemed like Angela was coming for what Luyando had. Luyando decided to talk to her once and for all. In the meantime, she had to prepare lunch. Her grandmother was coming back from the hospital. She cooked everything and sat on the couch waiting for them.
They came and found Angela sited watching TV. Luyando saw her grandfather for the first time. The man was very tall and slim. Dark in complexion like her. He also had big eyes but his were brown unlike Luyando's. He greeted her and his voice sounded like Josi's. The man standing in front of Luyando was truly her grandfather. All the anger that she had vented turned down to forgotten memories that Luyando had about her grandfather. Growing up, she was told about how much he used to carry her and go with her to his workplace. She stood up and hugged him. She didn't believe that it was really him. She cried in his arms. Her grandmother stood watching the beautiful reunion whilst tears were rolling out of her eyes. 'Iam sorry it took me this time to greet you, i was scared of how you would react', Luyando's grandfather apologized. 'I understand grandpa, Iam glad that you are here with us'. Luyando replied.
They had lunch together. Luyando had a lot of questions for her grandfather. She could not stop asking. She was very happy. 'Your grandfather needs to rest now Luyando', Her grandmother interrupted the two. 'Talking about that, i heard you are sick, what is the problem?' she asked him. 'I have prostrate cancer so Iam been treated'. He answered. Luyando felt sorry for him and comforted him that he was going to be fine. He went to the bedroom to rest. Luyando and her grandmother were now in good terms. They were washing plates and talking happily. 'We have to tell Josi, Grandma', Luyando told her grandmother. 'I was thinking about that and Iam thinking of calling him first thing in the morning', said Luyandos grandmother. They continued talking and laughing.
They washed the plates, cleaned the house and were both resting on the couch. Luyando's grandmother was dosing. 'Grandmother go and rest in the bedroom', said Luyando. Luyandos grandmother stood up and was heading to the bedroom when she heard a knock on the door. The time was around Five in the afternoon and usually when everyone was inside the house, they locked the door. Luyando didn't hear the knock. 'Luyando go and check whose at the door', said her grandmother. Luyando got up of the couch feeling lazy. Her grandmother was waiting for her to check who it was before going to her bedroom. Luyando opened the door and to her surprise, it was Josi. 'Josi hi', Luyando was confused by Josi's sudden visit. 'What a surprise', Luyando nervously invited him in. 'Hey pumpkin, OH and Iam not alone', Josi got into the house. 'You are not alone, who are you with?', Luyando asked as she was checking who Josi was with.
'Hi Luyando, its been a while',. Luyando saw Tyson coming towards the door, carrying some bags and wearing a hoodie with a cap.
