LUYANDO: EPISODE 16
BOOK 3
'The people he was working for have allegedly swindled at least fifteen people. This case is not in our hands, it is in the courts hands, Iam sorry I cannot help you', the police woman told Josi. Josi had gone to the police station with an aim of explaining the whole situation but they wouldn't let Tyson out. They told him that if Tyson was truly innocent, the courts of law will prove his innocence. 'When is he expected to appear in court? Has the date been set?', asked Josi. The woman took some time to answer the question as she checked her documents. 'The date hasn't been set but Iam sure in the afternoon, it will be. You can come back after lunch'.
With Josi, was Luyando, Angela, Derrick and Priscila. They all felt bad for their friend who was in police custody. Josi told Luyando and the rest about how he came to be found with Tyson. 'So this BJ guy is dangerous, isn't he?', asked Priscila. 'Not really, he’s too fat', Josi laughed. They were all determined to prove Tyson's innocence. He was their friend. Luyando didn't want to show how much she was affected by Tyson's arrest but she was the most affected. She thought about how she doubted him. Hearing Josi narrate the story of how they almost caught the men brought a smile to her face.
'Luyando', called the police woman. 'Tyson wants to speak to you'. Luyando didn't expect Tyson to call for her at the very least especially in the presence of Angela. Luyando went as told and found Tyson standing behind bars. 'Hey beautiful, how are you?', Tyson asked and went on. 'I hope your boyfriend is not behind you'. 'What do you want Tyson?', asked Luyando. 'Do you hate me that much?', Tyson sounded hurt. Luyando knew that giving him a cold shoulder in his situation was not been fair. 'Why have you called for me?', 'I just wanted to tell you that you should be careful, these people are very dangerous. I know Josi can protect you but be extra careful', he told her. Luyando didn't want to ask why Tyson would say that because whatever was happening was between him, Josi and the guys. It didn't concern her.
A few days later, Tyson was released on bail. He was set to appear in court in the coming weeks. Josi wanted to leave the city but his grandmother insisted that he waited after the court hearings were done as he was a key witness. With Josi's stubbornness, he left the city and said he would come back days before the hearing began. The only reason he was in the hurry to leave was his grandfather’s presence that bothered him. The grandfather was doing much better. He would exercise in the morning together with grandmother. Luyando would watch them whilst she left for work. Looking at the both of them work out, made Luyando yearn for love but it wasn't easy with her. Luyando's grandfather seemed so gentle and evidently he was sorry for leaving granny Tisa.
One morning, as Luyando was leaving for work, her grandfather stopped her and thanked her for the goodness she had showed him during those times. He told her that he also understood why Josi wouldn't forgive him but it was fine as he didn't deserve it. Luyando assured him that one day, his grandson would forgive him. The man smiled and let Luyando go, watching her leave the compound. Luyando's grandmother called him from the house and they had breakfast together as usual.
When Tyson was released from the cells, he had been asking Luyando to take things back to how they were before everything started. Tyson knew that Luyando was not into Nyambe based on the incident when Luyando answered No and Nyambe the opposite. He knew he had a chance with Luyando and he wanted to take advantage of it. Luyando had been thinking about what Tyson said. Unlike Nyambe, Tyson knew what he wanted and he made it known. Nyambe showed from time to time that he wanted her but he didn't make it clear.
Luyando was busy in her thoughts comparing the two men when Angela disturbed her during lunch at work. Angela wanted something from Luyando. 'I know we haven't been in good terms lately but I would like to get permission from you', Luyando told her to go ahead. 'Can I leave early today?, Iam not feeling too well', Angela said. Luyando gave her permission to leave and Angela promised to report back to work the following day. Luyando continued thinking about her two men.
Nyambe had told Luyando that he would see her after she knocked off from work but he canceled in the last minute. Luyando opted to visit Priscila whom she also didn't find. She didn't want to go home early because of the two lovebirds at home. They made her feel uncomfortable. She couldn't visit Tyson because that would have shown that she was desperate even though she missed talking to him.
She went home and found two women outside her house one of which was her grandmothers friend. They looked at her and faced down. From the outside, she could hear a voice from the inside crying. As she got closer, it was her grandmother crying. She entered the house and found her grandmother been comforted by another woman. Luyando looked around and saw that the TV was not on the wall. The Decoder was not on the table. Her grandmother had a manmade box which she used to keep some money from and it was opened. Luyando didn't understand what was happening. She went to the bedroom to check for her grandfather, he was not there. She came back and asked her grandmother. 'What is happening granny?'. Her grandmother looked at her and cried even more. 'Your grandfather has run away', the other woman said.
