LUYANDO: EPISODE 12 PART 2 BOOK 2 FINALE
By Brian Ngoma
Some weeks ago...
Tyson got off a bus. He wore a cap and an all-black outfit with a small bag. He couldn't look at anyone on their faces, because he knew there was a bounty on him. He had seen the news, even though his face was not shown to the public he was being careful. 'You never know; someone might recognize you', He thought.
He went back to wear he used to work. On his way there, all he could think about was what excuse he would give for leaving the way he did. He knew he had to be careful. He reached the workshop and found some guys gathered there. When they saw him, they were excited. He was their accountant. 'Where have you been man?', one of the guys he worked with asked. 'I had to leave for the city, I had a funeral', he lied. 'You could have told us weh', the other one said. 'It was urgent, it was in the middle of the night when it happened and they needed me so I had to leave', Tyson added. They caught up on some things and they introduced him to the new accountant. There was one person he had to meet. The boss, who was known by the name of Big Joe AKA BJ. Tyson knew that he had to be confident in explaining himself to BJ, failure to which he would be in deep trouble. BJ was not at the workshop; he had gone to conclude up a deal with one of the clients from another country.
Tyson stayed at the workshop with the boys he found. He was becoming impatient and the only way his plan was to be executed was by talking to BJ. It was getting dark when BJ arrived at the workshop. Whenever he came, everyone had to make themselves busy and occupied. BJ was known to be a person who never tolerated laziness at his workshop. When they knew that only a few minutes remained before his arrival, they cleaned all the cars. They had to make sure that the stock had been taken care of. BJ got out of his car. His walk was that of a king that had attained everything in his life. He used to walk so slow and majestically like he was put on slow motion. He was never without a cigar rete on his lips. Whenever he got out of his car, his workers would always feel his presence.
Tyson looked at BJ from a distance and got more anxious. He was very scared because he knew, any slight mistake might lead to something more dangerous. He saw how BJ looked at the cars and ensured everyone was doing their work. One of the workers went to BJ as he was going from store to store. They stood for a while and looked in the direction Tyson was. Tyson felt a chill in his spine. In that moment, he had known that BJ was now aware of his presence at the workshop.
BJ went straight to where Tyson was, entered the room and found Tyson sitting on an engine. 'Prodigal son has returned', BJ laughed. 'Yes I had some issues that I needed to take care of in the city', Tyson replied nervously. 'You left without saying goodbye and my finances suffered because of it. Do you know how much that cost me boy?', BJ was becoming angry. Tyson saw that things weren't going as he had planned and he quickly needed an answer that would soften BJs temper. 'I have come back BJ, and I will work for free for three months and I have a deal for you', Tyson gathered his courage. 'That sounds interesting, continue', BJ sat down on a stool. 'There is someone outside of this town that needs a car. He is loaded. All we need is to make a plan and go there. I already have his contacts'. Tyson sounded convincing. Tyson gave BJ a lot of details concerning the deal and BJ was interested in it. 'Alright young man, we will go there the coming few days. Let us sort out some issues in this workshop. In the meantime, work with the accountant that we hired and teach him some techniques that only you know. ‘I knew you would come back Tyson. You were always my favorite', BJ left the room. Tyson's heart was now at ease. He had managed to convince BJ to go to the town where Josi was.
'Tyson, Tyson, Tyson, how could you do this to my brother. I trusted you. I thought you were different', Luyando's voice. Tyson woke up. He was dreaming. This was the same dream he’s been having since he got in the town. It had been days now and BJ was not saying anything about Tyson's plan. Tyson thought that BJ had forgotten. He had to go back to Luyando but the only way that was possible was to ensure that the people that swindled her brother were caught. He got out of his bed and prepared. He went to the workshop and found BJ was in early. He called for Tyson. 'Young man, today is the day. Let your contact know that we are going there today', said BJ. Tyson didn't expect it to be that day but he was glad that he’s plans were finally working.
BJ, Tyson and the other two workers travelled to the town to meet the unknown client. They arrived at the town but it was late. They booked some rooms at a certain hotel. They were having some drinks when Tyson excused himself. 'Where are you going', BJ asked. 'I have to meet a relative at the station. He’s passing through this town so I have to give him something', Tyson replied. 'What something boy', BJ probed. 'Money to give relatives at the village', Tyson lied. 'Hurry up, we have to be together here', BJ dismissed him.
Tyson left the group with hope of finding Josi at his place. It was a walkable distance from where they had lodged. The last time they were in the town, Josi was so excited that he even took them to his place. He really needed to get a car and the fact that they had promised him to buy it at a cheaper price made him even more merrier. Tyson hurried and reached Josi's place. Tyson looked at his watch and the time was 8pm. He had planned what to say to Josi the moment he saw him.
He knocked on Josi's door and for a while no one answered. After some minutes, a girl came out. 'Sorry to bother you this late, I must have mistaken the house', Tyson scratched his head. 'It’s alright, who are you looking for', the lady asked. 'Iam looking for Josi', Tyson answered. 'This is his place; he's taking a shower. You can come in'. The lady invited him in. Tyson entered inside. The lady offered to give him something to drink but he declined saying he was not staying long. The woman went in the bedroom and told Josi that someone was waiting for him in the living room.
Immediately Josi came out of the bedroom, he told the woman to call the police. 'What are you doing in my house, honey call the police now. This man is a crook'. 'Josi please listen to me, I come in peace. Give me a chance to tell you why Iam here'. Tyson stood up. He finally convinced Josi and told him about the whole plan. 'So the people are here, in this town?' asked Josi surprisingly. 'Are you telling me that you were not aware of the business's illegal activities', asked Josi. 'No, it was until the deal we did with you', Tyson replied. They had finally come to an agreement. 'So early morning, go to the police station and at least get two police officers. Make sure you give them all the details and pay them something'. Tyson left Josi's house.
The following day Josi did what he was told and went to the police. Luckily, he got two police men and went to the lodge. 'The client is late, where is he Tyson?' BJ asked. 'He’s on his way, he has just texted me', answered Tyson. Tyson was nervous and hoped that things went as planned. Before coming, Tyson made sure that the people who were around during the first deal didn't follow. BJ was not one to go and conduct his deals unless the deal was too good. This one made him feel even more richer.
Josi got there and met the whole group. The two police men were standing on the lookout. The plan was that once BJ get out some papers to sign. The policemen would come in so that they confiscate the forged papers. These papers would act as evidence in the courts of law. Everything went as planned. Josi also convinced BJ that he had a lot of money and needed a big car. The only person who had the papers was BJ. The time came when BJ had to get his papers out.
BJ sensed that something was out of place. He looked at Josi and Tyson and they were shaking. 'Boys, is it cold?', he asked. Josi and Tyson looked at each other. 'No BJ', Tyson answered. 'How long have you guys known each other', BJ asked the two. Before they could answer, BJ received a call. 'Alright, is that so. Thanks my boy, no wonder you are my favorite', BJ hang up his phone. He closed the bag where he wanted to get his papers. He looked at Tyson with fiery eyes. Tyson knew that something had gone wrong. BJ looked around and saw two people standing at a distance looking suspicious. 'The deal is off. Tyson you are a wanted man back in the city', BJ stood and called his boys. 'Boys Tyson set us up, apparently this man was swindled and they want to put the crime on us. You see those men, standing there. They are police officers', BJ pointed at the two men looking lost and hungry. Josi impulsely stood up and called for the officers. 'Police officers these are the men', he shouted. One of the boys punched Josi in the stomach and he fell. The police officers rushed to where the men were. Tyson was confused. He checked on Josi and asked if he was fine. 'Yes Iam fine, do something'. Tyson got up and wanted to grab BJ's bag but he slipped and fell on the table. 'After everything have done for you boy, this is how you repay me', BJ kicked Tyson on his face and he fainted. The officers came running and were equally beaten to a pulp. BJ's group left and told Josi who was a bit conscious that if they ever find them, they will be beaten even more. 'And tell your friend when he wakes up that, that child Angela is carrying might belong to one of my boys', BJ got his boys and left.
The following day, Tyson and Josi decided to go back to the city and seek help. According to them, those two police officers they got were not up to the task. They were lazy and hungry. 'Did you see how they were beaten?', laughed Josi on their way to the city. 'I was unconscious', Tyson replied. 'How about that woman we left at your place?' Tyson asked. 'OH, Mulenga, she doesn't live with me. She will just take care of the house while Iam gone', Josi replied.
The two men reached the city around 6pm and decided to go to Josi's place as Tyson left his place and didn't know who was living there. They reached Luyando's place and it was locked. 'They must be all home, usually when they are all in, they lock it early', Said Josi. Josi knocked some more and Luyando opened the door who was surprised by Josi's sudden visit. 'What a surprise', Luyando nervously invited Josi in. 'Hey pumpkin, OH and Iam not alone', Josi got into the house. 'You are not alone, who are you with?', Luyando asked as she was checking who Josi was with. Tyson heard Luyando's voice and had realized how much he missed her. 'My feelings for this girl never went away', he thought to himself as he was walking towards the door where Luyando was busy checking try to see who Josi had come with.
