LUYANDO: EPISODE 14 BOOK 3
By Brian Ngoma
Starting a day on a sad note and Angela had to make it worse. She didn't know what her boss wanted from her. Luyando followed her boss into his office whilst thinking about what Angela said. Luyando took a sit which her boss pointed to. The boss greeted her and asked how she was doing. Luyando told her boss she was doing fine but anyone who knew Luyando could tell that she was not fine. 'I have called you to inform you that Angela and Joseph will be working as a team', The boss said, giving her a new improvised week plan which apparently Angela and Joseph had made to replace Luyando’s. Luyando agreed that she will work with them because she was the most experienced compared to them. 'We know we can rely on you Luyando. Joseph and Angela are new to the organisation and they need all the help they can get from you'. Luyando left the boss to start her work.
Josi and Tyson had decided to go to the police station where Josi had reported what happened not too long ago. 'I cannot go to the police station, Iam wanted that side', said Tyson reluctantly. 'We will explain to them how the situation was and I will back you up you know that', said Josi. Derrick looked at the two of them argue about going to the police station together. 'Josi, I think it will be best if you go alone because we wouldn't know what those police men would do to Tyson', Derrick added. They all agreed that Josi would go alone and later tell them how he had gone.
Tyson went to his house and asked Derrick to accompany him. They went to the house and found the surrounding looking clean. It was as though someone was living there. Tyson knew that he had left Angela living in the house but he assumed she would have gone back to her hometown. He asked around from the neighbours and was told that a pregnant lady was living in the house. 'Your wife lives there. Didn't you go for a business trip? That time that you went away, she left the house and said that she was staying over at a friends but after some days she came back' the neighbour narrated. Derrick and Tyson looked at each other and nodded.
Angela and Joseph returned from the field around ten hours. They entered the working space which had cubicles for every worker. They found Luyando waiting for them for she had something to tell them about the week plan they had devised. 'How was the field', she asked them. They said nothing but showed that they were tired and Luyando was the last person they wanted to talk to. Joseph and Angela behaved the same way, it was like they had known each other for a long a time. Stupidity recognizes stupidity, Luyando thought to herself. She managed to get their attention and told them to change a few things on the week plan and add some things which Luyando had written on a piece of paper. She left the week plan with Angela and went back to her cubicle.
Josi reported to the police station and was on his way back to Derricks. He thought about what happened the previous day and got really upset. All along, he thought his grandfather had died. Seeing him brought some memories he didn't want. In a turmoil of anger and betrayal, he felt that he needed to at least talk to his grandparents. He reached Derricks place and found the guys had not returned. He then went back to his house to talk to his grandmother. When he got to the house, he found them outside and told his grandfather to excuse himself as he wanted to talk only to his grandmother. The man stood up and went in the house.
'Tell me, what is this all about?', Josi asked. His grandmother looked at him and remembered how he was the time his grandfather left. 'You don't change my son and for that Iam grateful, in fact we are grateful, me and Luyando', his grandmother held his hand as she continued. ‘The state in which I found your grandfather was very devastating and I couldn't leave him. He was living with people he knew for a short time and I saw that attention and care was missing. When he saw me, it was a like a child who had seen his mother after a while’. 'So you decided you had to get him, right? After everything he put you through? Grandmother, wake up! I know you loved this man so much but you cannot tell me you are still in love with him, are you?' asked Josi curiously. 'I never stopped loving your grandfather Josi. He’s always been in my heart', she answered. 'How about those two grandfathers after him', Josi laughed. His grandmother didn't say anything on the other two men but seeing him laugh made her feel at ease. Perhaps, he was considering forgiving his grandfather.
Everyone was busy at work in their cubicles except for Joseph who was busy on his phone texting. Luyando saw him and had told him to finish the day's task before they knocked off. Joseph didn't listen to Luyando as he continued doing what he was doing. Luyando knew that Joseph and Angela had a lot to learn despite showing that they were hard workers. It was obvious that they wanted to seem hard workers to make Luyando look bad because when Luyando was working, they couldn't care less about work.
Luyando's boss came to check how they were working and asked if they had made changes to the week plan but Angela was not in her cubicle. Luyando told her boss that she would take it as soon as Angela showed up. When Joseph saw the boss, he made himself look busy and asked a few questions but when the boss disappeared, he went back to his phone. 'This will cost you your Job', Luyando told Joseph. 'It’s your friend Priscila whose busy texting me so I guess it will be a pass to you', Joseph smiled. Luyando didn't comment on what Joseph said because she trusted her friend and there was no way Priscilla could be texting Joseph after what he did to her.
'Where is Angela by the way?' Luyando asked as she stood trying to check her cubicle. Luyando got to Angela's cubicle and stood there waiting for her. After a few seconds later, Angela came looking at Luyando surprised. 'Can I help you?', 'As a matter of fact, yes, give me the week plan', Luyando stretched her hand. 'I forgot, I will give you when knocking off', Angela sat down. 'The boss needs it now Angela', Luyando got irritated. 'I told you in the morning and its almost knocking off time. What time are you editing it? 'Let me tell him myself that I will take it to him', Angela stood up and was heading to the boss's office. Luyando grabbed her hand and told her to behave like a matured person. 'Stop it you are hating me', Angela screamed. Everyone looked at them. Luyando pulled Angela back to her cubicle and told her to sit down. Angela saw that everyone's attention had shifted to them, she started crying. 'You have hurt me Luyando, what is wrong with you?', on top of her voice. Everyone in their cubicles stood up and was staring at Luyando.
