Running Away From Romeo Chapter 8
I went home and told Charity what happened then she said “finally the madam is leaving the house for you. The next thing is tell his relatives that you are pregnant, you know his relatives don’t like his wife so they will definitely make sure that he divorces her and marries you instead. One of my friends is dating his sister so I’ll ask my friend to take us to his sister’s house tomorrow. We should move fast before Emmanuel reconciles with his wife.” I told Charity that we needed to take things slow because Emmanuel was in pain then she said “so he wasn’t in pain when you two were making that baby? My friend now is the chance you have to be that man’s wife and you want to blow that opportunity away because of your childishness. Don’t be silly please grow up Chipo, you are 25 for Christ’s sake.”
Early in the morning, Charity was at my door knocking like someone was chasing her. He shouted at me because I wasn’t ready. I took a quick shower and we drove to Emmanuel’s sister’s house. She welcomed us well and served us English breakfast. During breakfast Charity said “we are sorry for visiting you at this early hour but we have heavy issues to address. Your brother Emmanuel impregnated my friend here and he is refusing to introduce her to the rest of your family so I told my friend that we can come see you, maybe you can help us.” Emmanuel’s sister stood up and hugged me then she said “you have come at the right time because all my siblings and some aunties and uncles are at our father’s farm house nursing our sick mother so it’s the right time to take you there. Let me just get dressed then we can drive there.” I was happy because I was finally going to meet Emmanuel’s family. An hour later we drove to Emmanuel’s parents’ place. Everyone seemed surprised to see me because they hadn’t met me before. Emmanuel’s sister said “hello family. This is Emmanuel’s new woman and she is currently pregnant for him. I brought her here so that she could meet all of you.” Everyone started hugging me and welcoming me to their family. I went inside the house to meet Emmanuel’s parents, his mother was excited to see me then she said “finally my so will be a father. My dear you are welcome to the family. Please feel free with us and be assured that my son is definitely marrying you.”
I spent the whole day with Emmanuel’s relatives and they were so nice to me. I left the place at 20hrs and when I arrived home I found Emmanuel waiting at my door. Immediately he saw me he said “Chipo why? All I needed was a little time to break the news to my wife but now that you have met my family I don’t think my wife will ever come back home. I told you to exercise some patience, eventually I was going to tell Mundia about the child you are carrying. Was it because I took Mundia to Abu Dhabi so you became jealous? If you wanted to go on vacation all you had to do was ask and I was going to take you somewhere. I just hope you haven’t destroyed my marriage Chipo because you will live to regret it.” He irritated me so I said “so you want to blame me for everything? My guy you are responsible for your actions. I didn’t force you to date me. How your wife reacted to this situation has nothing to do with me so stop finger pointing me. Besides your wife isn’t the first woman to be cheated on. She has moved out of your matrimonial home without realizing that it’s easy for me to take her place.” Emmanuel apologized for what he said then he hugged me and spent a night at my house.
A week later I spent a night at Emmanuel’s house and in the morning, his wife showed up in his bedroom without knocking because she had spare keys to the house. She found us cuddling in bed then she started crying and said “I’ve only been gone for a week and she has already moved in. why are you doing this to me? You broke our vows Emmanuel.” I was still sleepy so I just looked at her and said “eh… madam, don’t look at me like that. If you had performed your duties as a wife, you wouldn’t be lamenting now.”
