Running Away From Romeo Chapter 9

After Mundia left crying, Emmanuel said “hmm ba Chipo that was mean. You are just my girlfriend while she is technically still my wife so please respect her.” I was 7 months pregnant but Emmanuel hadn’t asked me to be his wife so one day I just packed all my clothes and belongings and moved in his house. He didn’t complain about my actions and he was cool with it. One hot Saturday afternoon, Emmanuel asked if he could go watch soccer with his buddies and I allowed him. In the evening I received a call from Charity who said “guess who’s here at times. Emmanuel is here with some girl flirting and they are just the two of them. My dear drive here as soon as possible. Come get your man.” My heart was pumping fast but I wanted to clarify with Emmanuel first so I called him but he cut the line and sent a text saying “I CAN’T TALK RIGHT NOW. IM WATCHING SOCCER AND THE BAR IS QUITE NOISY. LET ME CALL YOU WHEN THE GAME IS DONE.” Emmanuel lied to me. I wanted to drive to times but I was 7 months pregnant and I didn’t want to cause a scene so I decided to wait for Emmanuel to come back home. It was past 22hrs and he hadn’t returned home so I just drove to times where I found him happily dancing with a lady. His friend saw me and said “please Chipo don’t cause a scene. Besides we both know that if a man cheats on his wife by finding a mistress then he is capable of cheating on his mistress with another woman. What you can do is go home and wait for him.” I left the place crying and in shock and I didn’t check the road while crossing so a car hit me. I was rushed to the hospital and I gave the doctor Emmanuel’s line but his phone was off. The doctor told me my baby was in a critical condition and the only way to save him was to be operated on and removing my baby. I was operated on and baby was breathing fine but too small. I tried calling Emmanuel but his phone was still off so I called Charity to drive home but she said there was no one home.

I spent a week at the hospital but Emmanuel never cared to find out where I was. I was discharged and I found him with a lady on our bed. I had no strength to fight because I was still in pain. I looked at him and said “congratulations you are a father. I’m going to the other bedroom so you two can finish what you are doing.”
Emmanuel never apologized for bringing another lady to our house. His relatives forced him to make me his legal wife so we went to civic centre and had our marriage registered. Emmanuel changed and he was good to me and our son little did I know that he secretly reconciled with his ex-wife Mundia who was currently pregnant for him.

One afternoon I was chilling outside with Charity then Emmanuel walked up to us and said “there is no need for us to talk in private because I know you will still tell Charity what we will discuss. I love you Chipo but I love Mundia more. I’ve known her for a long time and truth be told, when Mundia and I separated we actually reconciled some months ago and she is pregnant. I’m really sorry for hurting your feelings but you have to move out of the house because Mundia is moving back in. its over between us but I’ll take care of our son’s needs.” I couldn’t believe what my ears heard. Charity hugged me and comforted me. I packed my bags and left his house. I moved in with Charity who was my pillar of strength. A week later I received a call from an unknown number and it was Mundia, she kept on laughing and laughing and said “who’s lamenting now? When will you side chicks learn that a cheating man always goes back to his wife.”
